"Snow White and the Huntsman" Review

I know there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this film and because of the whole KStew cheating scandal, but to be honest I don't really care about it. For me, the film should not have to suffer because someone screwed up. So, for those of you who won't watch this film because it has "her" in it then you're definitely missing out.

As we all know, this starts Kristin Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the evil queen, and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. It follows the basic fairy tale of snow white with a slight and very dark twist, which I'm going to go ahead and say I thoroughly enjoyed. Now, for those people who don't think Kristin Stewart can't act worth a damn, well, I just have to say (and I say this because it is my true opinion as well as some other people I know) she is a fantastic actress.

Now, trust me, I know she wasn't all that great when it came to the "Twilight" saga, but every other movie she's been in she has been absolutely fabulous. In this she shows such range that you would think she actually felt these things and she had become her character.

As always, Charlize Theron's performance was nothing short of perfect. To me, she plays the best evil queen to date. And well, who doesn't love Chris Hemsworth who I have come lovingly to refer to as "Thor," for those of you who have seen it but are unsure of what his name is. I think this movie was pull of superb acting, very good visual effects, and a story line that I have genuinely come to enjoy watching unfold.

Did I expect the story of Snow White to take such a dark turn? I can honestly say no. But I have to say this version is the best by far. The darkness of what most would call a whimsical story had me captivated the whole time I was watching it in a packed movie theater. Now that it's out on DVD and BluRay I have to take at least one time a week to watch it, and the soundtrack is a perfect fit. Especially the song titled "Breath of Life" by Florence and the Machine which shows in the credits.

I honestly don't care what public opinion of Kristin Stewart is and I know ever since the "Twilight" movies she has become wildly unpopular and said to be a horrible actress who shows absolutely no emotion. I have enjoyed pretty much every performance of hers and I see her as full of range and talent that is going unappreciated. But I saw a rising star in her when she starred in "Panic Room" with beloved Jodie Foster and I still see her that way. Just because you don't approve of what happened between her and directors Rupert Sanders, doesn't mean you should miss out on such an extraordinary film, and anyone who uses it as an excuse not to indulge and watch it, well, shame shame.
