Hello All!

I know it's been quite some time since I have written on this blog and I have really missed my audience. I have to say I honestly don't have a review ready for you guys this time around, but I just felt I needed an outlet this time for my busy life that has kept me away from my readers.

My fiance and I have bought a home and am renovating and along with being in classes to obtain my BA in Psychology with a focus in Criminal Justice I have had a full plate. Not only am I doing this, but I am also working very hard on becoming a published writer in the urban fantasy genre. That just happens to be where the above photo is inspired from. So, while trying even harder to grow my fan base, I have also been on the lookout for a literary agent and a publisher.

So, just thought I'd give you all an update and I hope to have a movie review up for you all soon!

"What to Expect When You're Expecting" Review

I know it's been a while but some medical emergencies have kept me away from my reviewing for at least the past four to six weeks. All things aside, I absolutely adored this movie! This movie stars Elizabeth Banks, J-Lo, Cameron Diaz, Brooklyn Decker, and Anna Kendrick.

This movie chronicles all of the things you read about in the book mostly known by expecting mothers and fathers "What to Expect When You're Expecting." And it does it well and had me laughing the whole way through. Now, in the essence of time and having to get dinner on the table I won't give out any spoilers, but I will say this. This movie was one of the best comedies I've seen in a while.

That means a lot coming from me since I don't really don't watch too many comedies and mostly stick to the action and horror genres with some sci-fi and fantasy, but this movie was fantastic. I have actually watched it a few more times since I initially watched it. This is a movie every woman should cuddle up on the couch with their man (if you have one) and watch. I'm sure you'd enjoy it.

"Snow White and the Huntsman" Review

I know there has been a lot of controversy surrounding this film and because of the whole KStew cheating scandal, but to be honest I don't really care about it. For me, the film should not have to suffer because someone screwed up. So, for those of you who won't watch this film because it has "her" in it then you're definitely missing out.

As we all know, this starts Kristin Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the evil queen, and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. It follows the basic fairy tale of snow white with a slight and very dark twist, which I'm going to go ahead and say I thoroughly enjoyed. Now, for those people who don't think Kristin Stewart can't act worth a damn, well, I just have to say (and I say this because it is my true opinion as well as some other people I know) she is a fantastic actress.

Now, trust me, I know she wasn't all that great when it came to the "Twilight" saga, but every other movie she's been in she has been absolutely fabulous. In this she shows such range that you would think she actually felt these things and she had become her character.

As always, Charlize Theron's performance was nothing short of perfect. To me, she plays the best evil queen to date. And well, who doesn't love Chris Hemsworth who I have come lovingly to refer to as "Thor," for those of you who have seen it but are unsure of what his name is. I think this movie was pull of superb acting, very good visual effects, and a story line that I have genuinely come to enjoy watching unfold.

Did I expect the story of Snow White to take such a dark turn? I can honestly say no. But I have to say this version is the best by far. The darkness of what most would call a whimsical story had me captivated the whole time I was watching it in a packed movie theater. Now that it's out on DVD and BluRay I have to take at least one time a week to watch it, and the soundtrack is a perfect fit. Especially the song titled "Breath of Life" by Florence and the Machine which shows in the credits.

I honestly don't care what public opinion of Kristin Stewart is and I know ever since the "Twilight" movies she has become wildly unpopular and said to be a horrible actress who shows absolutely no emotion. I have enjoyed pretty much every performance of hers and I see her as full of range and talent that is going unappreciated. But I saw a rising star in her when she starred in "Panic Room" with beloved Jodie Foster and I still see her that way. Just because you don't approve of what happened between her and directors Rupert Sanders, doesn't mean you should miss out on such an extraordinary film, and anyone who uses it as an excuse not to indulge and watch it, well, shame shame.

"Resident Evil: Retribution" Review

I will be the first to admit I am a HUGE "Resident Evil" addict. I played a few of the video games, just like most teenagers who had nothing else to do. This movie, just like all the others in the franchise, stars Milla Jovovich as Alice a.k.a. Project Alice. It takes off where the last film ended and as all of you can tell some key characters from past films have made a come back, but because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, I won't tell you how .

Now, I hate to break it to you guys but this review won't be nearly as long as the others seeing as I suffered a black widow bite and have been quite ill as a result. I have a few more movies I've seen since that I have yet to write about.

Anyways, in this movie you'll see one of the beloved characters from the games make her first appearance in the films.  To disappoint you all though I will have to be completely honest. While the movie was actually really good as was the soundtrack and the action sequences, the franchise could have done without this one. To me, and my boyfriend who went and saw this with me, it was what we are going to coin it as a "filler movie." Good, but not necessary to the plot and could've been done as part of a more essential movie to the franchise and not a whole movie.

Unfortunately this is all I really have to say about it, but not because that was my full opinion, but because I am just way to exhausted to continue typing. If you do end up seeing it though remember that just because it was a "filler movie" doesn't mean it wasn't a good movie. Just not necessary.

"The Hunger Games" Review

I know it's been a while since I have posted a new review and I figured why not review one of my recent favorites to hit DVD. This movie stars Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta Mallark as two teens who are thrust into a fight to the death. It is set in a Dystopian society in the future where there are twelve districts and each year, a young man and woman from the ages of twelve and eighteen are drawn to participate in The Hunger Games.

This movie struck a chord in me since I can see our present society turning into something similar. Now, I've heard a lot of people saying Suzanne Summers copied a Japanese movie named "Battle Royale," and seeing how this isn't a very well known film here in America I would have to disagree. There are marked differences in each. I have actually seen "Battle Royale," and I have to be honest, both it and "The Hunger Games" were very good.

I have been a fan of Dystopian literature since I read the famed "1984" in high school. I felt the characters and plot were very well developed. Casting couldn't have been more perfect. I heard a lot of people saying they were iffy about Lenny Kravitz playing Cinna, but I felt his performance was outstanding. Since I actually read the books I felt the casting choices were, like I said, perfect. Woody Harrelson as Haymitch was one of my favorites, but seeing as I'm a huge Woody Harrelson fan I don't think he can do wrong.

As you can all see I have nothing but positive things to say about this film, so this review won't be long. If you want a movie that is rich and full of loveable characters than this is the movie for you. It also helps that it will make you think about the current world position and helps you to speculate about what the future will truly be like for our country. I high suggest this film, and I hope everyone who reads this enjoys it just as much as I did.

"The Apparition" Review

"The Apparition" begins with a couple who is haunted by an entity that is conjured during a college experiment. The college experiment goes wrong and one of the people involved goes missing. This movie stars Ashley Greene as the slightly naive, but supportive girlfriend named Kelly who's boyfriend Ben (played by Sebastian Stan) was involved in the original experiment. He had never told her until things went from bad to worse. His friend Patrick (played by Tom Felton), comes into the picture as the proprietor of the experiment and tries to help as much as he can since he is also haunted by this entity.

Now, I am a huge horror movie fan. Especially when it comes to ghosts, and from the trailer I was expecting it to be a very good movie, but I changed my mind halfway through. The movie was slow and predictable, along with somewhat cheesy writing and (even though I do love this woman as an actress) Ashley Greene's acting was almost as bad as the movie itself. I found myself extremely bored even at the movie's "scariest" parts.

When you watch the trailer you expect an excellent example of an excellently written horror movie, but all of the best parts were in the trailer which left nothing else to the imagination. My boy friend even said the best part of the movie was Ashley Greene in a neglige, and to be honest, I would have to agree with him. Sebastian Stan's acting was much better, and I'll admit I am a huge fan from when he starred in "The Covenant." Tom Felton's acting was also on the same level, but I have to admit I liked him since he co-starred in the Harry Potter films.

There were some things about this movie I liked, but that was few and far between. And to avoid spoilers I won't go into any detail about them. Really though, if you want a terrifying movie that will have you jumping, screaming, and sitting on the edge of your seat this is not the movie for you. To be completely honest, I was yawning through the whole thing, and walked out very disappointed.

"Ted" Review

I went and saw "Ted" last night and I have to tell you guys I could not stop laughing. Every moment there was a smart ass comment by either Ted, the commenter, or Mark Wahlberg's character John. This movie has come from the mind of the creator of some of the shows we have come to love like "Family Guy" and "American Dad." Which, I can honestly say, I would watch all the time if I had cable.

This movie starts off with a wish made by a young John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), who makes a Christmas wish for his teddy bear to come to life so they could be friends forever. Upon waking the next morning he finds is teddy bear is alive. He than names him Ted (Seth Macfarlane). The next time we see these two they are all grown up and still together. Hilariously smoking weed on the couch watching "Flash Gordon." I couldn't stop laughing while the bear was saying how weak it was and that he needed to call his buyer while John was already high off of a few hits.

Lori Collins (Mila Kunis) is John's girlfriend whom he has been dating for four years. It is apparent to begin with that she really needs John to make a change. Mostly to grow up and  stop depending on his bear for companionship. She then gives him an ultimatum to either get rid of Ted, or she goes. I was definitely taken aback by the scene of Ted fornicating with a girl who works at the local grocery store and I quickly recovered enough to let out a loud chuckle.

Pretty much every aspect of this movie was absolutely ridiculous considering it's hard to take a teddy bear smoking weed, partying, and with the mouth of a sailor seriously even when it's in a very serious situation. But this movie was in no way stupid. It was funny. Very funny.

Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis did a great job as always and Seth Macfarlane is a great writer and voice actor. The thing I love about it is that it makes fun of everyone. Not just a set group, which is what I think i appreciate most from his shows. If you want non-stop laughs this is definitely the movie to see and when it comes out on DVD I will definitely be adding it to my collection.
